Top-level innovation for more than 30 years
The company's history dates back to 1975 when the biosensor research group started at the Berlin Academy of Sciences. Already in 1982, the first European glucose analyzer based on a glucose biosensor could be presented. Today, BST is the market leader in multi-way biosensors in Europe and an international operating company. Our competence is in the development, production and distribution of multi-way biosensors, instruments based on these multi-way biosensors and all related consumables.
1975 | Beginning of biosensor research in Germany under the head of Prof. Frieder W. Scheller at the Academy of Sciences in Berlin. |
1982 | The first biosensor based blood glucose device is launched on the European market (Glukometer GKM). |
1986 | The Enzyme-Chemical Analyzer ECA 20 is jointly developed with PGW Dresden and distributed by Eppendorf-Netheler-Hinz Hamburg in Europe. |
1991 | BST Bio Sensor Technologie GmbH is founded by 4 members of the former Berlin biosensor group. |
1995 | Next generations of biosensor based instruments are launched by ENH Hamburg (EBIO plus and EBIO compact) and EKF Magdeburg (Biosen). Again, the BST glucose and lactate biosensors are the core elements of these analyzers. |
2000 | Thick film type biosensors for glucose and lactate are the innovations of the year. |
2002 | The new generations of laboratory analyzers are based on BST thick film type biosensors. |
2004 | The multi-way biosensor is now available for the application of undiluted whole blood - It is the core element of the Glukometer 3000® and LactatProfi 3000® the worldwide first POCT instruments based on BST biosensors. |
2008 | BST is broadening the portfolio: From now we offer devices, biosensors and all related consumables out of one hand - that brings us closer and more efficient to our customer's needs. |
2009 | With GLUKOMETERPRO and LACPRO BST is launching the second generation of POCT instruments. The BST lab analyzer LABTREND is launched as well. |
